A message from Chief and Council:

Aaniin, Boozhoo, to our Friends and Fans of the Rama Hammond Kings.

On behalf of myself, Council and the community of Mnjikaning First Nation, I am pleased to welcome the Rama Hammond Kings Junior “A” Lacrosse Club, their families and their fans to the MASK, Mnjikaning Arena Sports Ki.

The Kings have established themselves as an intrinsic part of the entertainment culture in our community. The team has demonstrated dedication and determination to succeed in their inspiring efforts season after season. We have admired the sheer talent and outstanding individual efforts which make them a competitive force in the league.

We are extremely proud to count ourselves among your fans.

The sport of lacrosse is one which reaches back into our ancestral history. It is wonderful to have this opportunity to continue a tradition begun in the days of our honoured ancestors.

Lacrosse is a tradition making a strong resurgence in southern Ontario. We are thrilled to have our children learn this game watching a team which demonstrates the hard work and teamwork so necessary to be a success.

We look forward to a season of energy and excitement. We join with our neighbours in support of this fine lacrosse team, management and sponsors in wishing the Rama Hammond Kings a great year.

Miigwetch.

About Mnjikaning First Nation:

Mnjikaning First Nation is a proud, progressive and growing First Nation. It is rewarding to see this growth measured in facilities which bring new economic opportunities, employment and services to our First Nation. The dreams of our ancestors have made Mnjikaning a community which offers warm hospitality, lively entertainment and enterprise.

• Housing continues to be a key focus for Mnjikaning First Nation as more of our members seek to return and work in the community. As you travel along Rama Road towards the MASK, you will pass a new subdivision being developed on the east side. This subdivision will service 82 new homes in the community when completed.
• A new Police/Ambulance Facility is being built next to the Mnjikaning Fire Station. Our police department is anxious to move into a facility that will offer more space and technical resources to ensure we are able to provide superior services to Mnjikaning First Nation and visitors to our community.
• Our new Early Childhood Education Childcare Centre is under development as well. This new facility, replacing our long serving Children’s Centre, has been a dream of our community, and will provide a modern, spacious environment for childcare, parent and toddler programs.
• A proposed new market place and expanded Shell Gas Station is in development on the current Shell/Niijii Café site. This expansion is expected to include a number of convenience products for our community and visitors.

Mnjikaning First Nation resounds with the excitement that progress brings. Each new development and accomplishment gives Mnjikaning new reasons for community pride.

Long known as “the Gathering Place”, we are always happy to welcome visitors to Mnjikaning…for a traditional Pow Wow, to watch the Rama Hammond Kings Junior “A” Lacrosse Club or the Couchiching Terriers Junior “B” Hockey Team at the Mask Arena, or at the Casino Rama complex for a lovely dinner, show at the entertainment centre, or visit to the casino.

Miigwetch.

Thank you.
